Vehicle lighting check
The lighting system allows the driver to see the area in front of the vehicle at night and in conditions of poor visibility, to signal to other drivers and pedestrians, as well as better visibility inside the vehicle.
Types of vehicle lighting
The exterior lighting of the vehicle is divided into front and rear. The headlights include position, dipped and main beam, position lamps, turn signal lights, parking lights, fog lights, and signal lights (vehicle lock / unlock, alarm…). The rear lighting includes a position light, stop light, license plate light, direction indicators, parking light, reversing light, fog light, and signal lights (vehicle lock / unlock, alarm…).
Interior lighting includes cabin lighting, instrument panel, control panel, and decorative lights. This lighting can be automatically activated and switched off when entering the vehicle, switching off the engine, opening the boot, and in other situations that require a comfortable stay and use of the vehicle interior.
Inspection vehicle lighting
Park the vehicle in an enclosed or shady area to see the lights more easily. You need an assistant to check the exterior lighting of the vehicle. It is advisable to have a checklist to make sure you have examined everything.
For interior lighting, check the instrument panel and control panel lighting. Check the lights on the roof of the body. It is usually switched on and off via a manual switch.
Use the remote key to unlock and lock the vehicle. On most vehicles, the cabin lighting is automatically switched on and off. Check this feature.
When the door is opened and closed, the interior cab light is activated automatically. Check all doors on the vehicle. Also, check that the luggage compartment lighting is correct.
